BIG & SMALL BALL FAQS

🎉 General Information
Q: What time does the dance start and end?
A: Doors open at 6:15PM. Dance is 6:30-8:30PM.
Q: What is the theme of the dance?
A: 1950s Sock hop style with poodle skirts, saddle shoes, letterman jackets and blue jeans.
Q: Who can attend the dance?
A: Current Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students with their adult chaperone(s).
Q: Is there a dress code for the dance?
A: There is no required dress style, though we do ask that attendees adhere to school dress code for dress down days - no ripped jeans, no midriff, no mini skirts.
Q: Do I need to bring my student ID to get in?
A: No
Q: Will there be a photographer or photo booth?
A: Photo backdrops for selfies
Q: Can parents or guardians attend or chaperone?
A: All students must have at least one adult attending, however if a second adult would like to volunteer that is perfectly acceptable. We are always looking for parent volunteers that have a current and approved CCA background check.
👗 Dress Code & Theme
Q: What should I wear to match the theme?
A: 1950s Sock hop style with poodle skirts, saddle shoes, letterman jackets and blue jeans and anything in that era!
Q: Are costumes allowed?
A: If the costume is not theme appropriate, no. No masks, hoods, onesies or facial coverings.
Q: Are there any clothing items that are not allowed?
A: No costumes or facial coverings. Follow CCA dress down dress code - no ripped jeans, no midriff, no mini skirts.
Q: Do I have to dress up, or can I wear casual clothes?
A: You do not need to dress up. Come as you are.
Q: Will there be a prize for best outfit or theme-related costume?
A: No
🍕 Food & Drinks
Q: Will there be snacks or refreshments available?
A: Yes, each ticket comes with a hot dog, chips and drink. $1 concessions will be available for purchase. First come, first served.
Q: Do I need to bring money for food or drinks?
A: If you would like to purchase concessions, CASH ONLY.
Q: Can I bring my own food or drinks?
A: No, we do not allow outside food/drink. There are water fountains located around the school. Please email pto@carolinacharter.org if there is a specific need for allergies as we may be allowed to accommodate.

Q: Will there be a coat check area?
A: At this time, no. In the past attendees have set their coats on the gym bleachers.
Q: Are there volunteer or setup opportunities for students or parents?
A: Yes, see our volunteer info in the next section of this webpage.
Q: How can I get involved in planning the next dance?
A: Parents can join the PTO! See below!
🎟️ Tickets & Entry
Q: How much are tickets?
A: $10
Q: What is included in the ticket(s)?
A: Ticket includes entrance of one student (Small) and one Adult (Big), hot dog, chips and drink.
Ticket attendees IMPORTANT INFO:
Allowed - 1 Big (adult) to 1 Small (K-2 student).
1 Big (adult) to multiple Smalls (K-2 students).
2 Big (adults) to multiple Smalls (K-2 students).
Not allowed - 2 Bigs (adults) to 1 Small (K-2 student)
Q: Where and when can I buy tickets?
A: Online or at the door at the dance.
Q: Can I buy tickets at the door?
A: Yes
Q: What if I lose my ticket?
A: We will have a list of student names that have purchased tickets.
Q: Are tickets refundable or transferable?
A: Not transferable. If a refund is needed, email pto@carolinacharter.org. Refunds must be requested in writing 48 hours before the event.
Q: Do I need a permission slip to attend?
A: No, we are requiring adult chaperones for all students.
💃 Music & Entertainment
Q: What kind of music will be played?
A: Today’s hits and DJ will take requests.
Q: Can students request songs ahead of time or during the dance?
A: Songs can be requested during the dance.
Q: Will there be games or other activities besides dancing?
A:Not at this event.
🧍 Rules & Behavior
Q: What are the rules for behavior during the dance?
A: No food or drinks in small gym. Follow CCA conduct rules and expectations.
Q: What happens if someone breaks the rules?
A: Admin is notified and will address the situation.
Q: Can students leave and come back?
A: No, once an adult leaves with their student th
Q: Are phones allowed inside the dance?
A: Yes
Q: What safety measures will be in place?
A: Chaperones, PTO staff, and school admin are on site.
🚗 Pickup & Parking
Q: Can parents drop off and pick up students?
A: No, all students are required to have at least one Adult Chaperone.
Q: Where should I park?
A: Adults can park in our front parking lot or in the outer right lane of the carpool loop (like was done for our Fall Fest Event) Please ONLY PARK IN THE RIGHT LANE so that the left lane can be used for moving cars.
*Please be patient and careful during dismissal from the dance as we tend to have a lot of cars leaving at one time and cause traffic with the main road. *
